Alright...........I know what you must be thinking from the thread title........but no ..........we're talking "Band equipment" here! This question is for Bill & Phil: I was just wondering what you guys played on out at Beatnix. I was amazed at the quality of sound coming out of 2 drums and a guitar......it really sounded great! I've been around music and have been playing guitar for most of my life so I'm always interested in stuff like this. And no, I don't play professionally or even out in public...............people actually pay ME to not do so ........so I make a really nice living that way! j/k So here are my band equipment questions: Bill: what kind of acoustic guitar were you playing? and.....what watt amp were you using? Phil: I know you had 2 drums out there...........I believe one was a snare but was wondering what the other one was? Did you have your drum mic'd up also? Sorry for all the dumb questions............but such full sound from just a few pieces of equipment just blew me away! Thanks! JG

Wow. Cool questions.
The acoustic guitar I play is a Hohner (they're not known for guitars, they're known for making harmonicas) and I've had it since I was 15 years old. She's my baby. And I wasn't using an amp, I was running direct from my guitar into the P.A. system there, but I ran it through a chorus pedal first which gives it a nice, thick tone instead of just a straight acoustic sound.
Phil was playing something known to the drum world as, and correct me if I'm wrong Phil, but I think they're called "bongos".

why yes, bill... i WAS playing bongos.
and i did not have any of the drums mic'd since we were playing in a relatively small establishment.
and i was playing with brushes rather than regular drum sticks because brushes provide a much "softer" delicate sound which is more appropriate for that "coffee house" style.
i was also wearing boxers rather than briefs, which is also more appropriate for a coffee house.

I, however, was going "commando" - I was wanting to rock out that night, so I guess I was feelin' a little "saucy".
I was OUT THERE AND LOVIN' IT!

Thanks guys for answering ALL the questions I asked and even some I didn't! I didn't know boxers were more appropriate for environments like Beatnix...........guess I'll have to run out and get a pair before your next show there! Hopefully that rule ONLY applies to band members! ;D Thanks! JG

Hopefully that rule ONLY applies to band members! ... Band members... ... and fans... We at Common Ground don't make the rules... ... we only enforce them.
