"Not Me" was originally written for an independent movie in Los Angeles using the movie's plot and the producer's suggestions as a guideline for the lyrics to the song. Due to a change in the movie's ending the song wasn't used after all - so the Texas Rock Band, "Common Ground" decided to release it as a single. "Not Me" is a departure for the band showcasing their vast influences as songwriters and performers.
