Hello Common Groundland!
Got some cool news to report - we're going to contact the media this week to officially announce that we may be a potential father of Anna Nicole's baby! Ya see, our drummer, Phillip, actually went to high school with her (when she used her real name) in Mexia back in the mid 1980's so that's where we think these rumors began... but we think the baby has our eyes! Don't you? Anyhoo, we'll keep you posted.
In other news, thanks to our good friends at www.MusicGorilla.com we'll be playing another Showcase during South by SouthWest (SXSW) www.sxsw.com in Austin on Saturday, March 17th at Nuno's on 6th St. This time we'll be playing for A&R Reps for Virgin Records. This information has already been on our Website, Message Board, and MySpace page for a few weeks now but we're just now getting around to putting it in an email. Last year at SXSW it was a madhouse with thousands of bands, fans & freaks!
This is our 2nd consecutive 6th St appearance during SXSW and 3rd Showcase for MusicGorilla (previously performed for Hollywood Records and Epic Records) so hopefully 3's a charm! (or 3 strikes you're out?) - so wish us luck!
In other news, here's part of a recent email from a real life Common Ground fan from the great state of Connecticut! :
"I heard your track, "Drive," on someone else's podcast--one you should check out & subscribe to if you're a hockey fan--called A Foot In the Crease. They featured "Drive" during their introductory segment and I was instantly hooked. Warm, balanced drive with the guitar, a very clear and well-articulated bass part, and a nice groove told me there had to be more where it came from, so I opened iTunes and bought your latter two albums. They've been on my heavy rotation ever since. I Googled the band name, ... and the album names ("Common Ground" + "Take 3" + "Fragile") and got your MySpace page." - Andrew.
Thanks Andrew for the cool comments! You're awesome!
More news: Just like our bassist Jimmy K has a "side project" with playing with Wes Hardin and the Country Outlaws and Bill & Phil have their side project with "The Bill & Phil Show" - our beloved guitarist, Steve now has a side project with Sponge Worthy! Check out Sponge Worthy's MySpace page: www.myspace.com/spongeworthyband
for those who don't know - you'll have to watch episodes of Seinfeld to know what Sponge Worthy means... are YOU spongeworthy?
